Located close in SE Portland this 7 story live/work loft project takes advantage of the City views providing maximum glazing to the west capturing sweeping views of Portland's skyline. The post tensioned raw concrete structure recalls the nearby industrial buildings providing a shell that hybrid unit types are plugged into creating an ordered but random façade.
The structural columns are pulled back 2 feet in order to express the cube like volumes which can now be pulled forward free from property line conflicts. The inner courtyard captures the sun while these units are carved out by generous light wells providing two sides of light for each unit.
This carved light and cubic expression of space translates into a unique pattern of solid and void.
