Freightliner Headquarters Project
This program includes new corporate offices, media center and exhibit space all encompassed under a single roof along the waterfront in North Portland. Carefully crafted inner courtyards provide air and light while solid opaque program elements are bound compactly in each quadrant. The media auditorium space is constructed in one large opaque form which becomes the central design element contrasting with the orthagonal nature of the offices.
This egg shaped enclosure is clad in auto manufacturing type metals and finishes reflecting the company’s products and high tech engineering techniques.
Rose Garden Pad Five
This program for a new sports cable television station would have become the sculptural terminus of the existing Rose Garden Arena courtyard. Other program elements include office space, public relations center, retail space and production facilities. The soft building form is in keeping with other shapes such as the Rose Garden Arena turtle shell roof and curving facade of the existing offices and retail buildings. The curving facade of the new building facing downtown Portland is designed to project images over the entire length to produce sports super graphics visible from miles away.
