Cascadian Court (with Sienna) 1998-2001
Located in the Lloyd district adjacent to Portland's Max Line, this 58-unit
condominium building is clad with a glass and metal skin, maximizing
daylight and views out complementing the innovative and efficient unit
layouts that range from 475sf to 2,500sf. This diversity of size and price
works well with first time buyers and those who normally would not buy but
rent. In lieu of long dark units with one large window, Cascadian opts to
make the building plates narrow and turn perpendicular to the skin creating
light not only in the living areas but the sleeping areas as well.
The Cascadian (with Boora Architects) 2003-2005
The proposed 18-story sculptural design is the second phase of an earlier
9-story building (Cascadian Court) that is located along Grand Avenue,
Portland's NE arterial spine. The project features ground floor retail, 4
floors of above street parking and 13 levels of residential dwelling units
designed out of post tensioned concrete and clad with an all glass and metal
skin. The concepts of the layouts is creating diversity and flexibility
within the typical floors with each unit maximizing its view and window
area.
